Changing Fever

Changing fever is about the doubt many people encounter in their lives, usually when success is already there. A story about the passion for a different existence and the fear of the new. Contemporary, original and light-heartedly written. But certainly not superficial. With a sharp outlook and a dose of relatable humour. Very recognisable for thirty-somethings. And forty-somethings. But certainly not off limits for fifties.

Roeline is a successful young woman. Working in advertising, with a good salary, good car and a good house in Amsterdam-Zuid. All in all, she lives exactly the way she once wanted to. But now that she has it all, she fears that this predictable life is her final destination. She would prefer to change everything; her work, her friends, her life. But that means cancelling everything; income and lifestyle to begin with. At a New Year’s Eve dinner, she confronts herself and her friends about her ideals and how she stands in life. Peter, Roeline’s great love, also frequently appears in their contemplations. Free will and determinism were his obsessions, which eventually led to his suicide. One of the friends does change tack. Does this motivate Roeline to do the same? Or will everything just go on as it was?
