Cinematically written portrait of two men from very different worlds. One is a FIOD official charging the other, a wealthy entrepreneur, with fraud. The official is keen on certainty and the other has the guts to take big risks because of his belief in seemingly unlimited possibilities. The fraud case is described from both points of view, and the reputation damage suffered by the entrepreneur due to the suspicions in the press is particularly credibly described. Similarly, the doubt that creeps up on the FIOD official about the boring, orderly life he leads and the entrepreneur’s obsessive struggle against the imputations form a nice contrast on the one hand and, at the same time, show the struggle both are going through to keep their private lives intact. In a surprising way, the dramatic love triangle connects the two protagonists. A book that captivates from beginning to end. The Dutch author (1964) has previously published the novel ‘Wisselkoorts’ (2005) and several children’s books.
